Crafty Parties for Kids

Art parties are a great way for children to develop their creative skills as well as their self-confidence, plus they’re obviously great fun! We offer parties for any occasion but our most popular is for birthdays.

MADEbyTamalia is a multi-award winning arts, craft and entertainment service based at Creativ.Spaces whimsical studios, filled with amazing art, eclectic curiosities and foraged treasures. We are based in a small industrial unit in central Caversham.

Run by mother & daughter duo and professional artists Sue & Tamalia Reeves, MADEbyTamalia (the creativity) & Creativ.Spaces (the venue), is a small family business born in the midst of the COVID19 pandemic to help promote wellbeing, stimulate creativity, and spark innovation.

All crafty parties can be tailored to any theme, age group and gender – and we take care of everything including the mess! 🙂 All art activities last 90 minutes.

We even do a scrumptious Crafternoon Tea served on our vintage crockery and elegant tiered stands, (squash instead of tea obviously), or recycled Kraft lunch boxes. Please let us know if you would like to see our Crafternoon Tea brochure.

    PARTY FAQs…

A typical party lasts around 90 minutes (for crafts). Add an additional 30 minutes if having a party tea.

Parties are hosted at Creativ.Spaces Art Studio & Event Spaces, which means no mess in your home – great stuff!

    Our studio address is:

Creativ.Spaces, Unit 2b Southview Park, Marsack Street, Caversham, Reading, RG4 5AF

If your party needs to be hosted at your home or an agreed venue (organised by the host), then please contact us as this will be subject to an additional charge due to additional time needed for travel, set up and clean down, plus cost of travel.

We get booked up incredibly fast. Unfortunately as a result we cannot hold dates for speculative enquiries. Bookings can only be secured into our diary once a 50% deposit is received. It is recommended that you book at least 6-8 weeks before the party to ensure your date is available.

Our parties start from £18.50 per head for Amanda Jay Make & Take Parties and £20 per head for MADEbyTamalia Themed Parties.

Want to share the cost? Why not have joint party instead. It’s a great cost effective way for your child to still get a wonderful creative party experience.

Yes of course. Our brochure is packed full of activities inspired by popular party themes. For example; Unicorns, Dragons, Lego, Pokemon, Pirates, Mermaids, Star wars, Roald Dahl, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Top Secret Spies, Superheroes and much more, however you might like to design your own. Pop your request in our enquiry form and we can provide you with a quote.

No problem. You are very welcome to bring your own tea or we can cater a tea for you. We find that half an hour is plenty of time for children to enjoy their tea.

If you bring your own, we will ask you to set up, clean down and take away all waste with you (food and packaging). If we cater your party, we will serve it and tidy up afterwards.

Yes absolutely. We offer three catering options for parties:

    1. Recycled Kraft Party Boxes – A delicious selection of healthy and mini treats
    2. Vintage Tea Party – A sweet and savoury grazing tea served on our vintage tiered stands & crockery (not available on Amanda Jay party bookings)
    3. Premium Vintage Cream Tea – A mini cream tea served on our vintage tiered stands & crockery (not available on Amanda Jay party bookings)

We will send you a copy of our Crafternoon Tea brochure alongside our party brochure.

The studio is located on a small industrial estate with designated spaces for each unit. If your party is at a weekend it is usually quiet but we would politely ask all adults to park respectfully. There is plenty of road parking on Marsack Street and the adjacent roads (2 minute walk).

We have two main start times for weekend and school holiday parties. These are from 10am & 2pm.

For after school parties, if there are no evening bookings then we can often be more flexible. We do find that a popular start time for after school parties is around 4pm/4.30pm

We always have our favourite party tunes going and if time we even play a creative game. We do not provide decorations or party bags but please feel free to bring them along. Our studio is very pretty though so you won’t need many decorations.

Our party room at the studio is big enough for all the children and the activities but due to health and safety we cannot allow more than 4 adults (including hosts) to remain in the main party room. If adults would like to stay and for parties of children 5yrs and under, we have a designated VIP space where they can stay, grab a cup of tea (or cappuccino) and relax, but be on hand if their child needs them.*

*Please note there is an additional charge to hire this space.

Yes of course. If you have booked the 30 minutes extra time for a party tea, or we are catering your party, you are very welcome to bring a cake and serve it at the party.

If you have only booked the crafty activity, you are welcome to bring a cake for show. Please pop cupcakes in the party bags to avoid needing to cut the cake up.

Please bring your own knife, matches and candles for all birthday cakes. Please note due to incredibly sensitive fire alarms that go straight through to the fire brigade, we can only have wax candles in the studio. Cake fountains, sparklers or any other decorative lighting will not be allowed to be lit. Thank you for your understanding.

You are very welcome to come a little earlier to set up your food, cake, decorations, party bags etc. We ask that all adults hosting a party at our studio do not arrive more than 15 minutes before the party start time as we run multiple events in a day, so we may still be clearing and setting up.

We do provide parons howevere, we recommend that all children taking part in the creative activity wear suitable clothes for an art party. We cannot guarantee that the paints and materials we use will not stain clothes. We cannot take any responsibilty for any damage to children’s clothes or accesssories.
