Rediscovering our Forgotten Heritage – The Art of Ruin Photography

Matt Emmett has been travelling throughout Europe creating award winning imagery since 2012. From the raw spectacle of Belgium’s towering industrial remnants to the intimate beauty of Italy’s forgotten crumbling villas, the imagery he creates strikes at the heart of what economic progression and changing societal circumstances can do to our once much needed architecture.

In this new talk Emmett gives some context and history to some of the stand out locations he has photographed and describes the emotion that lingers in the empty shells of residences and factories that lie in ruins all around us. He also deconstructs some of his most successful images and describes how the images were created from an aesthetic and technical point of view.
