Led by MADEby Master Maker and professional Potter Elaine Wells, this workshop is suitable for all levels and requires no special skills but the ability to be amazed at how easy it is to be creative.
In this Workshop…
You will use a simple technique to form a beautiful translucent candle holder using a pot cast from porcelain. With endless possibilities you can create a pattern or random design on the body of the pot, no drawing skills are needed! You will have time to make up to 2 holders. Porcelain clay is a high fired clay body that is beautiful in its simplicity, a bright white colour and translucent.
A lit candle inside your Candle Holder will reveal your design, a wonderful personal Christmas gift for someone you love.
You are welcome to bring design ideas with you or just wait to see what your imagination comes up with. Any tealight or votive candle can be used in your finished pot.
At the end of the workshop, Elaine will need to take your pots back to her studio to fire them. Your items will be available for collection after approximately 3 weeks from the MadebyTamalia studio. Please bring with you to the workshop an apron and an old towel. All other tools and equipment for the workshop will be provided.
Please bring with you to the workshop: All aprons, materials, tools and equipment will be provided, however please bring with you an old towel. Elaine will bring example pots but please feel free to bring any pattern ideas.

Elaine is predominantly a Studio Potter and has been producing wheel-thrown domestic ware in her Studio in Chesham Bois for over 30 years. Recently, over two years attending Clay College in Stoke on Trent she was privileged to have over 25 diverse Master Potters teaching a variety of different hand building, throwing and decorating techniques, many of which she continues to explore in her own studio. Many of these techniques will be used in a variety of workshops at the MadeByTamalia Creativ.Spaces in the future.
