April is Stress Awareness Month. In a world where stress has become a ‘normal’ part of day to day living, managing the symptoms of stress are becoming ever more challenging.
This April we’d love you to join us for an evening of creative journaling over tea, coffee and biscuits. Use it as an opportunity for some ‘me time’ or for socialising with others and immersing yourself in mindful creativity.
Creative journaling is a great way to document your thoughts (positive and negative), dreams, goals, and day-to-day happenings. By recording these in an art journal it can not only serve as a stress relief tool but also help to remind you of the good in your life.
This workshop is simply about experimenting with a range of materials and connecting with your intuition. You will be guided on how to record your thoughts, dreams, goals and much more through art rather than writing into a formal journal. You will be given prompts and work on a mixture of paper and a sketch book and experiment with free flow writing, drawing, layering, collage using a range of different mediums.
By the end of the 2 hours each person will take away a sketch book that has been started, ready for you to continue the practice at home
- Look at different examples of sketchbook journaling (travel, life, vision, creative expression & development) and why it’s fun but also beneficial
- Learn basic principles of how to journal/sketchbook
- Finding inspiration
- Experiment with techniques
- Start your own sketchbook/journal during the class
Feel free to also bring any old magazines, your favourite drawing/painting tools and anything else you might want to include in your sketchbook.
